Alarm bells over proposed development in Lower Shott, Bookham

May 29, 2008 18:38 by matthewp

The Bookham Bugle has raised the profile of a large scale proposed development that would see almost 3 acres of Bookham's distinctive features of independent shops, historic buildings, and trees turned over to a Waitrose and car park.

Some developers would make a lot of money. Bookham residents would lose the current amenity, the character of their village and would gain just another clone shop - offering nothing which you cannot already get from the neighbouring supermarkets.

Let's not forget the blight on the local residents with this development cloud hanging over them - it is in everybody's interest to ensure that this developmenti s closed down as soon as possible.

If you are concerned please read the Bookham Bugle's continuing coverage of the story.
