On Wednesday 19th March the Chairman of the Council will present Dorking Quakers with their second eco-congregation award.

They acheived their first award in 2002 and this second award has been given because of their continuing commitment to reducing their environmental impact. They were specially commended by the assessors from the Guildford Diocese Environmental Group for their newly installed, zoned heating system with highly efficient gas boiler, their thorough environmental audit , their organically maintained garden and their efforts to spread the word on care for the environment to the general public. They organised 2 showings of Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth, have an environmental policy on their booking form for hirers' of their premises and have Quaker produced booklets on reducing your environmental footprint freely available in their Information Centre.
